Bangkok Immanuel Church Ignited by God’s Love to Love Others in Retreat

Over the recent weekend from February 11th to 12th, Bangkok Immanuel Church held a graceful retreat where participants meditated on the deep love of God towards them while also being challenged to love and feed the sheep that God entrusted to them.

During the two days’ retreat that was held in Samut Songkhram Province, members reflected on the deep love of God revealed to them through Bible lectures on Genesis 1, Luke 15 and John 21.

They were reminded of how God created everything in the world just for them, and how they ought to remain in Christ in order to mature in love as the image of God that they were created to be. Though they may have turned their back on God countless times, yet God kept waiting for their return and hope to share all of His creation of them. Ultimately, they were challenged to respond to God’s love by sharing His compassion for the lost sheep and feeding them just as how they were being well fed by Him.

The members were deeply encouraged as they witnessed the Spirit of God working greatly in their midst during the time of Bible lectures, Sunday Service, sharing, prayer meeting and conversation over meals.

Reflecting on the retreat, a leader shared, “During the retreat, I was reminded to bring my weakness to love before His presence and be healed. When I am overflowing with His love, will I then be able to care for others. I repent for not having the heart as a shepherd for others. I want to comfort others just as the Lord did to me. I hope that God will heal me even when I am in the process of being a shepherd for others too.”

It is anticipated that the retreat will serve as a platform to spur each member to love God and His people across this year.

Bangkok Immanuel Church Celebrates True Light of Christmas

Towards meditating on the profound meaning of Christ’s birth and spread the joy of Christmas with many who have yet to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, Bangkok Immanuel Church held a graceful Christmas outreach event this past Sunday that gathered 40 people from various backgrounds and ages.

The event began with a time of icebreaker, a video presentation on the meaning of Christmas and singing of Christmas carols. Subsequently, the participants were guided to meditate deeply on the meaning of Christmas through the message ‘True Light in the Night’ that was taken from John 1:9-14 and John 3:16.

The congregants were exhorted, “We celebrate Christmas because the True Light has come amidst the ‘nights’ of our lives which we are suffering in. Despite the world still rejecting and not recognizing this precious gift, but yet God still give us the best, His one and only Son, telling us how deep is His love towards us. We could now love because He first loved us. Even if we are to face ‘nights’, we always have hope, because this True Light, Jesus Christ, was born on this Christmas Day, shining and guiding us the path amidst the darkness of our ‘nights’.”

Following the message, there was a graceful time of fellowship over lunch where members get to know more about the newcomers. Testimonies by two sisters about their faith journey soon followed before a time for gifts exchange.

Reflecting on the event, a minister shared, “More than anything, this event is only possible because of the united hearts of members in preparing for the event within a short time of preparation. With a heart of wanting to serve, many of them practiced diligently till late nights while participating actively in inviting and praying for their friends and family members to hear the message of Christmas through the event.”

May the joy and love of Christmas resound deeply in the hearts of every member and event participant, that the aroma of Christ will overflow in their lives as they proclaim His love wherever they are.
